So here’s what’s “new” in my corner of the world.
I have decided that I’m not looking for a “career” as they are currently defined. I want to find something that aligns with my beliefs and personal social pursuits. I am also looking for a part time position, as a full time position would really be too much for me.
So for now….
I am volunteering. A LOT.
I am a mentor to two HS students in my local community. I am active with the League of Women Voters, I have been asked to be a delegate at the National Conference in DC. I am really excited about it!
I have started my training to become a CASA (court appointed special advocate). As a CASA, I will oversee a case of a child who is in foster care. I will work with the child to make sure they are getting what they need and are enitled to through the foster care system. It’ll be hard work but very gratifying.
I am focusing on living daily and not in the “whats next?”
I am trying to make the most of each day. I am really grabbing every opportunity I can because this is truly my second chance. I want to leave the world a little bit better than it is, especially right now. We are so divided and angry all the time, I want people to hold a little grace for each other. I try to do this in my own life as well.
