My purpose.

I think we all want to know what it is we are meant to do in this life. We are encouraged to follow our passion, leave a mark, do what we love. What if you love a lot of things, though? What’s your purpose if you have so many interests?

I love makeup, skincare and fragrance. That much is so, so true. I had a nice little career in the beauty industry, but I will not return in a sales capacity. For now, I am simply an informed brand fan/product junkie, and I will continue to post about beauty. I have a post I’m working on as we speak.

I think my real purpose, however, is to focus on my ability to give back to the community through mentorship with my alma mater and finding ways to help first-generation college and non-traditional students. Why? Because they are my heroes.

They juggle full-time jobs, children, families and life with going to college. I have met some incredible students who just need someone to talk to about how to “do things”: write a proper business email, create a LinkedIn profile. How to find confidence in networking, how to start a small investment account for their future. I am honored to write recommendation letters and see their careers grow. I am humbled that I am in a position to mentor; that I am able to bring confidence to others through my life experiences.

I have been thinking about how I can do this successfully. I still have to focus on my health first, but knowing that my life after treatment has a path makes me really happy.
